Illustration pending

So my roommate Blue and I were walking to our local convenience store due to my craving for a hot pocket, and hers for cookies. (I use others' addictions to make myself feel better about myself). Crazy antics ensued.

Me: Hot pockets are terrible for me. I just can't break the addiction!
Blue: *sings* Hot Pockets
Me: I should draw an anthropomorphic hot pocket. Arms, legs, sharp pointy teeth, the whole deal.
Blue: It could be attacking you!
Me: Next on the Syfy channel. . .
Blue: KILLER HOT POCKETS!
Me: FROM SPACE! And there's no escape from them. In Soviet Russia, hot pocket eat you.
Blue: Their only weakness is pepto.
Me: It'd be like that movie Signs. . .only instead of water it's pepto, in a spray bottle.
Blue: There would be some little girl who collects pepto as an obsession.
Me: Because it's pink.
Blue: Yeah. Then she saves the world.
Me: From *sings* Doom Pockets

We have issues.
Case closed.

Natural Illustrations Part 1

There will be an inevitable part 2, as I have a crap-ton of Natural Science Illustrations, I haven't even scratched the surface with my scans. . . I have a long scanning session ahead of me. But for now, I will post these. Enjoy!

Consider this a Comic in Motion

So I have decided to create a rather fine-artsy type of thing. A "Comic in Motion". His name is Potty McTrollkins and he is my facebook account. While I really created him because I was threatened with bad things if I didn't make a facebook to keep up with my gallery group, people can interact with Potty as Potty. His girlfriend's name is Phyllis (a special thanks to my boyfriend for this name), and she's a plunger. A cast of characters will be created for his album as soon as I can get around being forced to download the uploader.

Mr. Snuggles

Well, not unlike Mister Fluffy, I have another monstery friend I've created named "Mr. Snuggles" I've done doodles of him, paintings of him, no digital paintings however. Unlike Mister Fluffy however, he hasn't gotten disgustingly cuter.
I like this fact. (Maybe I'll post the other awesome monsters on the sketch page later).

Post Crazy + General Crazy = Me

So I know I've been posting a lot lately, but I decided to post yet ANOTHER in process project of mine. I've decided to take up digital painting. It only sort of makes me want to cry. . . . Still in process, but it'll be finished eventually.
Enjoy!

Raccapo

I had an assignment last semester to create a hybrid animal. after many sketches and deviations, this is what I came up with, a combination Kakapo and Raccoon. Previously seen on my main blog (Kunsthaus, link to the right), I decided it had a better home here.
Enjoy (again)!

But wait! There's more! This time around, I'll include my sketches.

ChiLyn

This is a creature that my roommate Blue and I decided to each take a chance at illustrating. It's called A Chi-Lyn, or a Chi-Lin, and it's essentially a Chinese unicorn with the head of a dragon, the body of a deer, and the tail of an oxen. The colors are those of the Chinese elements. Supposedly they are only seen when a great leader is born.

Enjoy! ~HMGartner

Today's post is about show at the 301 Gallery at Montserrat College of Art (301 Cabot St. Beverly MA). The show, titled "All Dolled Up" was a collaboration of illustrators including seniors Erica (Blue) Allard, Emilee McGlory, Meghan Hawkes, Chris Parent, Chris Thibodeau, Danielle Smith, and Justine Fitzgerald Yandle.
The show was well organized with a delicate sewn thread theme running behind all of the pieces. There was a variety of works including illustrations in the traditional sense, print making, photography, and video work. They deserve a hand for a job well done.

Don't Blink

Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. . . Ohhh Doctor Who I <3 that show. Well, my friends have been obsessed with the "Blink" episode with the creepy angel statues recently. So I drew us. . . as creepy angels. I had my friend scan it. I retouched it a tad.
Here you go!
